Is a throw the same as a blanket?

Yes and no. Throws are a sort of blanket so all throws are blankets, but not all blankets are throws. Hence the term throw blankets. Throws are usually smaller than other blankets, but there’s no hard-and-fast rule.

What is a throw blanket size?

A common size for throw blankets is 127cm x 152cm but they can be any size you like. A smaller one is good for you to put on your lap while you work on chilly days but you may want one that’s big enough for you and your loved one to snuggle under for a good Netflix session.

How to use a throw blanket?

Throw blankets serve two purposes: form and function. A beautiful linen throw (or a knitted throw in winter) can be used to add a splash of colour to your living room decor (without committing to repainting the walls). Just fold it roughly over one end of the sofa or an armchair, so it’s waiting for you to snuggle under next time you’re curling up with a book. You can also use your throw to hide any sneaky marks on the sofa if you drape and tuck it in neatly! In the bedroom, fold your throw lengthways and lay it along the end of the bed to add a bit of depth to your bedding. On extra chilly nights, just pull it up for an extra layer of warmth.
