What is a quilt cover?

In most parts of the world, a quilt is a thick, padded blanket that serves more of a decorative function and doesn’t take a cover. However, in Australia we usually use the word quilt interchangeably with the words doona and duvet, so a quilt cover is just another word for doona or duvet cover. Think of it like a pillowcase for your doona; you can pull it off and wash it – experts recommend weekly – and you can change up your linen quilt cover to give your bedding a different look.

How to put on a quilt cover by yourself?

Start by lying the quilt across your bed, then lie the linen quilt cover inside out on top of the quilt. Feed your arms inside the quilt opening all the way up to the top corners of the cover and grab hold of the corresponding corners of the quilt. Pull the corners of the quilt up and towards yourself so the cover flips down over the quilt. Holding the corners, shake the quilt firmly so the linen bed cover falls all the way down the quilt. Lay it down again and tuck the bottom corners into the cover, give it another flap from that end, then tie up the bottom edge.
