How is linen made?

Linen is made from the fibres that grow inside the stalks of the flax plant. The plant is cut or pulled from the ground (some people believe pulling it creates a finer linen) and the fibres are spun into yarn. That yarn is then woven to create a textile that is much stronger, but just as soft as cotton, making it an excellent choice for linen tops for women.

Where does linen come from?

High quality linen flax is mostly grown in Western Europe, particularly Belgium and France, but Ireland, Italy and Ukraine also grow good flax. However, these days, the bulk of linen production comes from China. How to soften linen?

Good quality linen softens as it ages, making it more enjoyable the longer you have it. Continue to add a little baking soda to your laundry powder every time you wash your linen tops in Australia, as it helps prevent detergent buildup on the fibres.
